- This Agreement shall remain in force indefinitely but either of the Contracting States may terminate the Agreement, through the diplomatic channels, by giving to the other Contracting State written notice of termination at least six months before the end of any calendar year starting five years after the year in which the Agreement entered into force. Notice of termination shall be regarded as having been given by a Contracting State on the date of receipt of such notice by the other Contracting State.

- In such event this Agreement shall cease to apply:

- a)in Malawi in respect of taxes on income relating to the fiscal year (including accounting periods beginning in such year) next following that specified in the notice of termination; and
- b)in the Netherlands for taxable years and periods beginning, and taxable events occurring, after the end of the calendar year following the calendar year in which the notice of the termination has been given.
